About the board
BISE Lahore is the oldest examination board in Punjab. It began in 1954 as the Board of Secondary Education, Punjab, when control of matric and intermediate examinations moved from the University of the Punjab to a separate board. It held its first examinations in 1955.
At first the board covered a very large area, including Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and the Northern Areas, and it even ran exam centres abroad. As new boards were created across the province, its area became smaller. It now works under the Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1976.
Today the board serves the districts of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. It registers students, conducts the matric (SSC) and intermediate (HSSC) examinations, announces results and issues result cards and certificates.
